Thanksgiving in Newport

Our plan for Thanksgiving was to go to Idaho and spend the week there with family, however, our plans were thwarted when snow threatened to hit some of the passes through to Idaho we decided to stay here. We didn't have any plans here and I didn't make any special dinner plans so we decided to head to Newport for Thanksgiving day and spend the night.

It was so so so cold and rainy, but hey, that's Oregon's coast for you. I can't even call it a beach because, to me, beaches are warm, sunny, bathing suit places and this is nowhere near it. But there is sand and water.

The kids all bundled up and we played in the sand for as long as we could handle.

This piece of wood was washed ashore here in Newport and is from the Japanese Tsunami. We had a lot of waste wash ashore from that.

This is the wind, so strong you could see the sand blowing in this picture!!

Tyler was, as always, having a great time with it.
This picture below is his cute footprints in the sand.

A tree root!! I am so fascinated with tree roots - I think they are amazing!!

The view from the parking lot.

We spent Thanksgiving in the La Quinta Suites hotel and had dinner at Sizzler. I highly recommend making dinner reservations instead of sizzler but it worked and we had a great time as a family!!

We also had to go to Fred Meyers to buy something that was suitable to swim in at the hotel because they didn't have swimsuits in season there. But it worked and we all had a great time.

The next day we headed to Newport Aquarium. I'm not sure where all those pictures went because I know I took a bunch but oh well. It was a great time!!!
