Home made Baby Food

After reading a friends post on www.utahdealdiva.blogspot.com she saved a bunch of money by making her own baby food so I decided to give it a try.
I went to Costco and bought a bunch of carrots, apples and pears.
I got the water boiling and cooked the fruit or veges. Then I put them in the blender and ended up with Carrot Mush and Apple Mush. I haven't tried the pears yet!!

This gave me about 10 cups of Carrots and 8 cups of Apples which cost me about $8 at costco and if I had bought the baby food at the store that would have cost me about $27 so I am really impressed and it was surprisingly easy to do.

And I do it all for this little angel!!!

Go sarah! I love it! Next time, instead of putting the puree in ziplock bags, freeze it in ice cube trays first. After it's frozen, pop them out and then put all the cubes in the bag! That way it's not so messy when you need to get some out to feed her! I'm so happy you like my blog!!

Hey clever lady,

The ice cube idea works especially if your mixing with a cereal. All of my kids hated jar food because they only had homemade!!

I was also going to suggest the ice cube thing. Saves money, and is tastier than store bought.

Don't forget bananas and sweet potatoes.

That was the best trick I discovered with Kaitlyn. I have also been saving the baby food containers to help store the food in as well. That way I have a better idea of a serving size. It's amazing how much money you can save by making it yourself. Way to go.
