Carthage Jail

After we stopped in Nauvoo we headed over to Carthage Jail which is about 30 minutes away. It was beautiful, which is wierd to say about a Jail but it was. We watched a short film and then we went to tour the Jail. Alyssa decided, as we were waiting to tour the jail, that it would be the perfect time to do sit-ups. Too much watching Mommy do sit-ups.

I didn't get to stay much because Alyssa was being rowdy and so I took her out so the others could enjoy the tour. This window on the top was the window that Joseph Smith fell out of as he was shot.

After everyone was done with the tour, the sweet missionary took me through quickly by myself. This is the jail room that housed Joseph, Hyrum and I think someone else.

And this is the bullet hole in the door that killed Hyrum Smith. Sorry the picture is on it's side.

This was really neat to see, and as you were going through you could feel the spirit of the events that happened here.
