My parents made the trip from Utah to Illinois to come and visit us for a few days. We had a great time. We first met them in Nauvoo which is about 2.5 hours away from our home. We met them in the morning and spent the day touring the sites in Nauvoo. The first thing we saw was the Nauvoo Brass Band. They were loud and scared Alyssa at first but then Alyssa fell fast asleep.

Holding onto Daddy really tight!!

Then we walked around the Historic Sites and saw Brigham Youngs House.

And took a few pictures of Alyssa on the way.

Walking along the roads. We loved all the trees. They shaded us because it was a HOT day!!

Then we saw the Seventies Hall which was really neat. Upstairs they have a list of people who came across with the pioneers and we found one of Eric's ancestors, Jeremiah and Charles Leavitt. That really brought the experience of Nauvoo close to home for Eric.

Inside the Seventies Hall, Alyssa wouldn't sit still but it was still nice to be in there.

Then we walked along the "trail of Hope" which leads to the Mississippi River where the Pioneers crossed to head west. They had journal entries from a few of the pioneers.

One of the Journal Entries was from one of Eric's great grandmas, Sarah Leavitt. It was so neat to have joined the family and know that my name is in their history. It was crazy too because they had a daughter named Elisa which is another spelling of Alyssa. Just too amazing!!

Then we had the awesome experience to ride in a wagon pulled by Oxen. The Oxen were gorgeous. Just big beautiful creatures.

Alyssa and Daddy on the wagon.

Then there was a memorial to commemorate those who had lost their lives in the journey west and one of those was Erics great grandpa, Jeremiah Leavitt.

At the rivers edge where the Pioneers crossed.

Then we went to see the Nauvoo Temple. It is beautiful.

It was a great day. After Nauvoo we headed out to see Carthage Jail.
