Our little Mason Man is 2 weeks old as of yesterday and so much has happened in those two weeks. Last week we were so lucky to have Eric home for the whole week. It's horrible to have him back at work today. Erics parents also arrived last Thursday and are staying till this thursday. Mason doesn't yet like Tummy Time but he'll get there. He prefers to suck on his hand when he is on his belly.
Big Sister Alyssa is so in love with her little brother. I haven't seen any jealousy yet. We are trying really hard to include her and make her feel special.
Just so sweet.
Mason was born weighing 7lbs 5oz and when he came home he weighed 7lbs even. Then at his 4 day check up he weighed 6lbs 13 oz and the doctors weren't happy with that. He also had high levels of biliruben (jaundice) so we had to place him in indirect sunlight with no shirt on until the medical supply company came and gave us a bili-light for him to wear for 24 hours.
A nurse came over after 14 hours to check his levels and weight. I had to put him on a strict feeding schedule of every two hours and he also had to wear the bili light until 24 hours had passed. This is the box that the bili-light was hooked to. It was a little pad that went against his back inside his clothes. It was a nice blue color. It was pretty non-evasive but the hardest part was that he was hooked to this box and we couldnt move him much.
He is so sweet. He smiles a lot in his dreams. He has a cheeky smile and I can see his little personality shine through and I'm a little worried as to what he will be like when he is older but I can't wait!!
He doesn't sleep really well durnig the night, but during the day he is great. We are working on switching that. After all the hard work of feeding and the bili-light we took him back to the doctor last Thursday and he weighed 7lbs 8oz and there was no sign of jaundice so he is healthy and happy and thriving!!
