First Day of School for the Kids

Alyssa had her first day of Kindergarten at Buttercup Hill School on Monday. She was a little nervous about going to school but she quickly settled in and had a great day.

I was taking pictures of her (as I always do) and she had had enough and said "Can I go and play now?" She is so fun. I chatted with her teacher yesterday and her teacher said that Alyssa is so articulate, smart, intelligent and such a great friend to others. She always includes others and has such confidence and knows the answers or the right questions to ask. She is great at her gymnastics and we are so lucky to have her in our class. She called her "Top Notch Student".  Talk about a proud Mommy!! She is so sassy at home, I get worried that she is like that at school but nope, thank goodness. I'm so lucky to be her mom!!!

On Tuesday Mason enjoyed his very first day at Preschool. He is in the 3 year old class at Buttercup Hill. We are so grateful to have the two of them at the same school. They have seen each other in passing or playing outside and they run up to each other and give each other hugs. He goes there on Tuesday and Thursday. He loves it and loves having his backpack on. He has a good friend there named Toby and they wrestle and play. I'm sure they are going to give the teachers a run for their money!! I love this little boy and I am so glad he is mine!!!

My friend Stephanie (who is an amazing mom) has a great tradition of baking her kids a giant cookie on their first day of school. I thought I would give that a try for Alyssa being that she is in Kindergarten this year. She didn't eat much and wasn't super excited - she wanted a better surprise. (Sassy came back) She finally warmed up to it and ate a little bit of it. The others ate some too but there was a lot left over. Eric ate some after work but I think I'll try something different next year.

When both of the kids were at school on Tuesday, I thought I would be a cool mom and paint with Tyler. I forgot that 15 months is a little young for paints. He promptly put the paint brush in his mouth, climbed on the table and crawled all through it. Hmmm... We may wait again before we do that. He was so cute though!!
