After a wonderful life and a long battle with many illnesses, my Grandma passed away Monday Morning July 4th, Australia Time. My Grandma was one of my heros, I loved and will always love her. She lived a life dedicated to her family and to the Lord.
On Friday we found out that she had a lot of fluid on her lungs, she was in a lot of pain and was on morphine which put her in an unconcious state. The nurses informed us that she would still be able to hear though so many family members came and visited with her and said their last goodbyes. Being on the other side of the world my wonderful husband suggested I find out the phone number to the nursing home and have them hold the phone to her ears so we could talk with her. So I got in contact with my sisters who gave me the phone number.
I called the nursing home at the time they suggested (there is quite the time difference) and my Aunt Kara was there and she held the phone up to Grandma's ears.
Alyssa and I both talked with her. Kara said that while we were talking with her, she opened her eyes, which she hasn't done in a long time. We told her we loved her and we are happy that she is finally going to be with Grandpa again.
I'm so grateful to be apart of her family and to have the time with her that we did.
The picture above was taken back in October 2009 when Alyssa and I went to Australia for my other Grandma's 80th birthday. I'm so glad that we have a picture of Alyssa with her. My Grandpa had passed away earlier that year.
